Smicon is further expanding its cleaning solutions portfolio for the organic and food waste recycling industry through a partnership with Elpress. By combining Smicon's expertise in waste processing with Elpress' knowledge of industrial hygiene, customers benefit from a comprehensive solution for cleaning bins, containers and pallet boxes. The collaboration has already resulted in successful joint projects in the Netherlands, Norway and Spain, further strengthening Smicon’s ability to provide turn-key solutions for the organic and food waste recycling industry.
Smicon is known as a specialist in machines and installations for processing organic residual streams and food waste. Elpress, in turn, brings extensive knowledge and experience in the field of industrial hygiene and washing systems. By combining this expertise, the two companies create a strong proposition for customers in the recycling industry.
According to Elpress, this combination is exactly what makes the partnership so valuable. While Elpress is driven by the principle of offering customers the best possible solution to a cleaning challenge, Smicon, as a leading company in the recycling industry, understands the day-to-day practice, processes and challenges of the market like no other. Together, this results in a complete and high-quality solution.
A key part of the collaboration is the wash cabinet, a versatile washing system designed to clean a wide range of bins, roll containers and pallet boxes. The wash cabinet has been developed as an all-round cleaning solution, and with a dedicated frame it is even possible to clean pallet lids. One of the features that sets this solution apart from other systems on the market is the high-quality surface finish. A wash tunnel is also available for a continuous process.
Elpress uses a ceramic bead blasting process. This not only gives the machine an attractive satin-grey appearance, but above all ensures a low surface roughness of approximately 0.8 µm. A smoother surface allows water and chemicals to reach bacteria more quickly and effectively during the cleaning process. This leaves less room for bacterial growth and results in a higher level of hygiene.
The cleaning performance of an industrial washer always depends on several factors. In cleaning technology, the Sinner Circle is often used as a framework, in which four elements are key: temperature, time, mechanical action and chemistry.
The wash cabinet offers customers extensive possibilities to optimise these factors. These include different heating options, adjustable washing times and chemical dosing systems. Combined with high-quality pumps, this gives users all the tools they need to achieve the best possible cleaning results.
In addition to hygiene and flexibility, process optimisation also plays an important role. The Elpress wash cabinet can be equipped with remote access, allowing information about the machine’s status to be retrieved remotely. In addition, data logging provides customers with valuable insights into performance and process flow. This makes it easier to monitor machine performance, improve processes and plan maintenance more effectively.
For customers, the partnership between Smicon and Elpress means one thing above all: the best of both worlds. For companies in the waste recycling industry, this is a major advantage. In this sector, bins, containers and other logistical equipment are used intensively and are exposed to organic residual streams, contamination and varying climate conditions. An efficient and reliable cleaning solution therefore contributes to a cleaner working environment, less downtime and a more efficient operation.
“At Smicon, we are always looking for ways to offer our customers a more complete solution. By partnering with Elpress, we can combine our expertise in waste processing with their knowledge of industrial cleaning. This enables us to support customers not only in processing organic waste streams but also optimize our customer logistics processes by cleaning their waste bins safely and efficiently.” Joep Smits, Commercial Manager at Smicon.
The recent partnership between Smicon and Elpress has resulted in a new joint project in Norway. For Elpress, this is a strong confirmation of the potential both companies see in the collaboration.
“It is great to see that the exploratory discussions we once had have now led to visible results and shared successes,” says Maarten de Geus of Elpress. “We look forward to many more successful projects together.”
