Changes for growth and continuity at Smicon

Changes for growth and continuity at Smicon

From left to right: Joep Smits, Kees Uppenkamp & Tonnie Smits.

Since the 8th of March, Kees Uppenkamp, is appointed as the new managing director of Smicon. With the promotion of Kees from commercial manager to managing director, Smicon is ready for new growth and continuity now and in the future.

With the appointment of Kees Uppenkamp as managing director, Tonnie Smits will leave his current position as director Smicon. Tonnie will still be linked to Smicon as technical advisor to support the R&D and engineering department, two key departments within the company. There will be no changes within the ownership of Smicon.

The position of commercial manager will be fulfilled by Joep Smits. Joep has been working at Smicon within the R&D department and has taken on the responsibility for this challenging position. Therefore, continuity of the company is secured to bridge the gap between the generations of the family-owned business Smicon with a new appointed managing director.

Kees Uppenkamp: “As managing director my mission is to retain and expand Smicon’s position as a market leader in food waste recycling machines. Smicon has been working hard in the past years to get our organisation ready for growth and continuity in the future and this was the last step to be taken to complete that goal. I am thrilled to share and devote my experience to the Smicon team to reach this goal together.”

Tonnie Smits: “With Kees Uppenkamp, Smicon will have an experienced managing director who can continue to build a healthy future for Smicon. We wish Kees every success in his new role.”

With these organisation changes, Smicon is ready for worldwide growth by expanding their current and new markets to a higher level. Besides the organisational changes, the first steps have already been made by starting the construction of a new facility which expands the current production space with over 1000 m². This will increase the production capacity for Smicon to secure more orders for machines and projects in the forthcoming years. Stay tuned for more announcements and news on the progress of our building and new projects which Smicon has been working on.
